My Favourite Autumn Things

As I sit down to write this post I realise that we're well ito Autumn. In fact, we'll soon be moving into Winter but I still wanted to share some of my favourite things about this season. A little reflection and gratitude post.

I grew up in a hot and humid climate, but I've really grown to love the cooler seasons. I started to notice that each year, towards the end of Summer I would start to dread the shorter days and colder weather and I decided that I needed to change my mindset and embrace it!

Thinking about the things I enjoy about Autumn has helped me to feel less dread and more contentment. In Cornwall, where I live, Autumn brings a sense of calm after the chaos of Summer. The villages, roads and beaches are quieter and the air feels fresher.

I love that feeling of cosiness when I put on a woolly jumper and hat for the first time; taking the time to make a bowl of warming porridge with all the toppings for breakfast; a long walk on a crisp, bright day; baking a batch of cinnamon buns or a loaf of bread; afternoon naps on the sofa by the fire; hot chocolate with marshmallows; warming stews; incredible sunsets. Wellies. Knowing that its totally acceptable to get into bed at 6pm on a Saturday night and watch a film when the wind is howling outside.

How about you?
